About Me and My Practice
True Health and Wellness was created out of a desire to help patients become truly healthy and not dependent on medications to decrease symptoms. At True Health and Wellness, we recognize the significant interplay between the emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of health. We seek to address all areas to help restore patients back to true health and the abundant life for which they were created.

Tanya Hershey is a family nurse practitioner who has worked in primary care for over 20 years. She also holds a certification in lifestyle medicine and continues to pursue more education on natural, holistic, and herbal remedies. Recognizing the limitations of a purely traditional and primarily pharmaceutical-based approach to healthcare, she created True Health and Wellness in order to give patients a place where the emphasis is on addressing the root causes of disease, utilizing a more functional and natural medicine approach as well as a more of a lifestyle integration to healing. A strong primary emphasis is placed on nutrition, utilizing the concept of “food as medicine”, as well as lifestyle in order to decrease the need for pharmaceutical drugs. Supplements, aromatherapy, or herbal remedies may be recommended as well. Emotional and spiritual components are also addressed utilizing Biblical principles for healing. Secondary emphasis is placed on labs or pharmaceutical drugs, and with Tanya’s traditional medicine background, they can be used as needed based on individual needs.

Testimonials

"Tanya cares deeply about others. Any question or health concern I have, she approaches with has the whole person in mind—mind, body and soul. It is so very rare to find a health practitioner who has the time, heart, faith and expertise as Tanya does. She has helped so many people and I am so thankful to be one of them."

"I have always found Tanya to be caring and empathetic as well as knowledgeable in the field of natural medicine which interests me a great deal… it is refreshing to have someone who will work with a patient in trying to find more natural, less invasive remedies. She is also a believer in exercise and a proper diet to enhance a healthy body.
Although she leans toward natural remedies, she will and has prescribed the use of more conventional remedies if it is deemed necessary. But I have to say that I agree with her in that simpler, more natural remedies should be tried first."
